Friday 13 September 2024 Friday 13th September 2024 We had a fabulous week in Kangaroo class this week! I am so impressed with how well the children are doing. There are some lovely friendships blossoming and the children are kind and respectful to each other. This week our focus was on feelings so we read the colour monster to help us understand how colours can link to our emotions. The children enjoyed learning about the different colour monsters and we saw lots of beautiful artwork inspired by the story. The children have created different representations of feelings when playing in the environment. The pineapple faces game was very popular and the emotion rollers in the playdough were well utilised this week. The children have all had a go at drawing a colour monster and talking about what makes them feel a certain colour. As well as learning about feelings we have been learning about the school community so on Friday we went on a tour of the school. The last stop was the adventure playground which the children enjoyed exploring. Pl

Friday 5 July 2024 Friday 5th July 2024 Kangaroos have had a very busy week inspired by the story, 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch.' The children enjoyed listening to the story and talking about the different ways they might stop the seagulls from pinching Mr Grinling's lunch. We were surprised to discover that mustard sandwiches would keep them away. We thought it would be a good idea to make sandwiches so at the beginning of the week we wrote instructions and at the end of the week we followed these to make a sandwich.

Friday 10 May 2024 Friday 10th May 2024 Dear Zoo was our focus story for the week and the children were able to read this independently by Friday. The children enjoyed thinking about what pet they would like from the zoo and why. This inspired them to have a go at writing a letter all by themselves. Throughout the week the children enjoyed creating zoos, playing 'what am I?' by hiding animals in different packages and retelling the story using our story sack puppets.

Friday 3 May 2024 Friday 3rd May 2024 What's happened to the furniture? There is food everywhere!! We must have had a tiger come to tea!!! The children were very excited to find pictures of a tiger in our classroom which inspired our writing for the week. The children have created some fantastic lists of things a tiger might eat. At the end of the week we thought about the party we would like the most and wrote some invitations. We discussed our favourite party food, games and themes for the party.

Friday 19 April 2024 Friday 19th April 2024 It was so lovely to welcome back the children this week! It was nice hearing how everyone had spent their break. This week we started our topic of Amazing animals and the children put their learning from the school trip to good use when we discussed farms. In our topic lessons we learned about different types of farm arable and pastural. We thought about the animals that would live on a pastural farm and the types of crops that would be grown on an arable farm. In the children's play they have enjoyed creating farms and talking about the needs of the different animals.
