Well, the Kangaroos continue to impress us with their fabulous learning, and we have had another fun-filled week!

This week our focus has been on families—how they are all special and unique. We enjoyed reading some wonderful books including The Family Book, All Kinds of Families, and What Makes a Family? The children loved talking about their own families and had the chance to draw family portraits

In our Creative lesson, we explored colour. The children went on a colour hunt around the classroom, excitedly searching for objects that matched a chosen colour. It soon turned into a fun competition to see who could find the most! Afterwards, The children then had the opportunity to create a colour collage using different materials.

In Maths, we continued our work on sorting according to a given rule. The children practised guessing how objects had been grouped and sorted some very unusual monsters! One lesson even involved sorting themselves into groups—for example, those wearing a cardigan and those not. The children particularly enjoyed thinking of their own sorting rules. Towards the end of the week, we moved on to comparing quantities using more and fewer, and the children practised describing and comparing sets of objects.

PE was especially exciting this week as the apparatus made an appearance. It was wonderful to see the children gaining confidence with each attempt, challenging themselves and learning from their friends. Many showed impressive climbing skills, scaling the frame with determination. Next week, we will continue exploring different ways of travelling across and around the equipment.

We have squiggled and wriggled to Tina Turner’s Proud Mary, making big circle shapes in the air and on paper with crayons. The children particularly loved spinning (though it did make us all a little dizzy!). We played a listening game too, where the children became “sound detectives,” identifying different noises from around the house. They did brilliantly at guessing each sound!

In our RWI sessions we have introduced 10 sounds – The children are trying hard to read the sound, write it and use their Fred Talk. If you would like to support at home we have added some helpful links below (the same ones that were emailed earlier this week).
