Friday 23 May 2025 Super Sports Day It has come to the end of another term! The children are continuing to impress me with how much they are growing and learning. The highlight of this week has definitely been sports day! Their teamwork, friendship, respect and excellence shone as bright as their smiles as they worked hard to complete the different activities set up. They all had a go at jumping, throwing and running to earn points for their teams, and what an amazing job they did!

Friday 16 May 2025 16th May 2025 We have had another fun week of being explorers. We have headed into space and used 'Button Moon' as an inspiration for our Drawing Club. In maths, we have been looking at shape and thinking about how three different shapes can all be an 'odd one out' and explaining why in full sentences. The children have also been rotating shapes and joining shapes together to make other larger shapes. We also had a visitor to Koala class who spent the afternoon reading and listening to hundreds of stories!

Friday 16 May 2025 Blast off! 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 BLAST OFF!! What super galactic week it’s been! Children in Wallabies loved watching ‘button moon’ as their stimulus this week in drawing club and had great fun inventing their own space crafts to travel to the moon, coming up with ideas of where they would travel to in space and who they might meet there! They have been super busy in the classroom with all space themed activities including building rockets and other space shuttles in the construction area, creating moon pictures using tinfoil to print, dressing up as astronauts, and making their own constellations . The fun didn’t stop there! They travelled to the International Space Station for our next ‘Faraway Friday’ in our class rocket! We learnt about gravity, what astronauts eat, how they sleep and go to the toilet in space and even made our very own astronaut pudding. We also thought about what astronauts might pack for their journey!

Wednesday 14 May 2025 Zebras 16.5.25 This Week we went on a walk around Westbury to find human and physical features of our town. The children were really observant and found lots of both. We saw the fire station, church, car park, shops and roads of of which were human features and trees, grass areas and hills that were all physical features. Maybe you could keep an eye out over the weekend to see what features you can find?

Friday 9 May 2025 Fabulous Fractions and Remarkable Routes This week in maths, Panda Class have been learning to recognise fractions and know that each part MUST be EQUAL to be a fraction. So half is sharing into two equal parts or quarters are sharing into four equal parts. I have been very impressed with how quickly they were able to recognise equal parts of shapes or share a number of objects to find half. Some were also able to find the whole number if they were only given one half. Fabulous work Pandas!

It is an absolute joy to see. We have spent time talking about our learning and how we sometimes need to make mistakes to help us. Often, we have to keep trying to get things right.

We had a tour underground, learning about the local legends, seeing the crystal clear river running through the numerous chambers and lots of cheese! Once out of the cave system and after we all readjusted to the bright light, the children saw many different dinosaurs and watched a thrilling 3D dinosaur show through their fingers! We finished the day improving our agility, balance and coordination.

Friday 2 May 2025 Chicks and Poetry! The children were very surprised to have a lovely visit from some chicks and their mum on Tuesday! We have been writing poetry based on our book 'Out and About', on Monday we gathered ideas for different adjectives and rhyming words for chicks, this prompted Mrs Millard to bring in her hen and chicks from home. The poems turned out fantastic! In addition, the children were able to explore wind in our English lesson. We went outside with different streamers and light objects to see and describe how the wind moved. We came up with different words and phrases to put them in sentences by the end of the lesson.

Friday 2 May 2025 2nd May 2025 The children have been out enjoying the fine weather and working hard. We have sadly said 'goodbye' to one of our class and wish him well as he starts a new adventure in London. Our Drawing Club book this week was 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt', in our maths sessions we have been counting to 20 and beyond, the children have also harvested the cress they grew last week to make a tasty sandwich, mixed powder paints and have learnt another poem, this time about a T-Rex!

Friday 2 May 2025 Friday 2nd May What a lovely sunny week it’s been! The children have absolutely loved it, with lots of fun water play and den building outside. Our story this week has been ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ by Michael Rosen which the children recite really well! They have enjoyed retelling the story with actions as well as with their friends in the small world area. Drawing club saw some amazing caves and innovative ideas on how the family would get across a flooded river! These included a portal, an alligator’s mouth, turning into butterflies and floating on a pig’s back. They had such fun coming up with their ideas and some amazing writing came with it. Well done Wallabies!
