Friday 15 November 2024 Poetry and an Engineer! Wow – another fabulous week for the Marvellous Meerkats which finished on a golden high with all of the children getting a gold card for their fantastic English firework inspired poetry. Myself and the team were so impressed with the children’s handwriting, word choices and inclusion of capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. We have also been chorally reciting poetry and the children’s reader voice is really developing with great tone and enthusiasm. It is wonderful to see their growing love of all the books we share.

Friday 15 November 2024 Perceptive Poems Published to end our Zim Zam Zoom topic! What a fantastic way Panda class finished their week by publishing (writing up in best to be displayed on the wall) their firework poems. We were SOO proud of the determination some of the children showed when they had made a mistake in their 'best' work and were asked to do it again. They are really developing resilience and a positive mindset which was fantastic to see and the pride they felt seeing their work go straight up on the wall was lovely. Great job everyone!

Friday 15 November 2024 Isambard Kingdom Brunel It has been another fantastic week in Zebra Class. The children have especially enjoyed starting our brand new history topic, learning about the achievements of the famous Victorian engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We looked at different sources of information and acted as inquisitive historians to find out as much as possible about him. We soon found out that sources of information from the past (photos, paintings, memorial plaques, statues) can tell us some information, but not everything we might want to know! The children cannot wait to visit the SS Great Britain next week, another one of Brunel's amazing masterminds.

Friday 18 October 2024 Honeybee Class Friday 18th October 24 It has been another busy week in Honeybee Class. We started the week with a new story in English which focused on emotions. The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas is a fantastic book which looks at each emotion, giving it a colour and teaching the reader what we may feel like and do when we are feeling these different emotions. The character in the story is feeling all mixed up and needs help to separate the emotions to understand them. The children really enjoyed talking about what makes them feel happy, sad, calm, love, anger and fear and made some fantastic monsters of their very own. We will continue to reference the colour monsters when talking about and expressing our feelings in class.
