Trips & requests for voluntary contributions
We enjoy making the most of our local environment and taking our children on walks and short visits to places of interest in our local area. Parents are asked to sign giving permission for these visits when the children first start at Westbury Infant School.
There will be times when your child will be invited to go on school trips further afield. All school visits are carefully assessed for Health and Safety risks and we ensure that adult to child ratios are maintained at all times.
Parents are asked to make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of the trips to cover the cost of transport and other expenses incurred in providing high quality Learning Outside the Classroom. These experiences supports, enriches and extends learning and development and are much valued by the school as enhancing cultural capital in our learners. It is our intent that all children benefit from these experiences irrespective of the amount of voluntary contribution given. Parents still need to sign the necessary approval slip to participate.
However, an activity may be affected if a significant amount of the cost is not collected. The school would then have to consider cancelling some trips. The school fundraises throughout the year and this money all goes towards subsidizing the cost of trips to parents. All of our trips that cost more that £10 are capped at £10 per child irrespective of how much the trip costs the school.
Parents are informed at the beginning of the academic year when these trips are taking place, so if financial planning is needed, there is time to put this in place. A payment plan can be set up through ParentPay for this very purpose. If you are or believe you will experience further financial difficulty, then please do not hesitate to contact the school as there may be something we can do to help support you with this.
