Life Skills (PSHE)
At Westbury Infants, we aim for every child to have high self-esteem and be equipped to make a valuable contribution in later life.
Our PSHE curriculum, which we call Life Skills for our young children, brings together Personal, Social and Health Education, emotional literacy and social skills in a comprehensive scheme of learning.
PSHE is taught and embedded through whole school assemblies, cross-curricular application and a weekly session in class. We use SCARF as our PSHE/RSE curriculum. The children enjoy regular visits from Harold the Giraffe and the Life Education Bus.
SMSC (Spiritual, Moral Social and Cultural) development opportunities are included across the PSHE curriculum where appropriate.
Class teachers also cover the Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) content for their year group throughout the PSHE sessions, with the aim of ensuring that children understand the boundaries of healthy relationships.
