Friday 21st November 2025

Wow, what a chilly week we’ve had! Although it’s been cold, the children have still enjoyed being outside and exploring the frost and ice. If possible, please provide your child with a pair of named wellies. The children play on the Trim trail at playtime and it can get quite muddy.

This week, our message centre has been inspired by The Gruffalo story. The children found footprints, leaves, twigs, and glitter, along with messages in the classroom. This inspired them to come up with their own messages to send back.

In maths, we have explored the numbers 4 and 5. The children have been practising recognising collections of 4 and 5 and subitising (using their eyes to recognise quantities without counting). They have been exploring different ways these numbers can be represented and have been using the sentence stems: I know there are 4 because I can see 2 and 2 or There are 4 altogether because there are 3 and 1.

In topic, we have been learning about the woods as a habitat. We have been looking at what we might see, hear, feel and touch, along with what animals might live there. We have been exploring this through the story of the Gruffalo.

Today the children came home with their reading folders. Inside them, you will find either a reading book, a Ditty sheet, or a QR code. This depends on which group your child is in. Please share these with your child at home and write in the reading record. If your child is using the QR code videos, please tick them once you have watched the linked video together. These folders need to be returned every Friday so that they can be changed and updated. Please keep everything in the folder after reading to help preserve the books.

Finally, the children who had permission were super brave today having their flu vaccinations. If your child had one, you will find a little leaflet in their reading folder.
