Weighing, Assembly Lines and Running!

What a scorcher! It has been amazingly warm this week however, the children have coped amazingly. They have certainly taken on board that they needed to drink lots of water and it has been brilliant to see them independently taking themselves off to rehydrate.

We finished last week looking at how we help each other. The class set up an obstacle course and had to guide their friend around it offering encouraging words and using clear instructions. It wasn't as easy as it looked!

In Maths this week we have been looking at weighing object. We started off by comparing the weights of objects using the correct vocabulary before moving on to weighing using cubes. It has been really practical and the children's vocabulary has been fantastic.

As part of the cars topic the children moved on to looking at Henry Ford and how he began manufacturing cars using a production line. We set up our our assembly line in the classroom, one person made the chassis before passing it on to the next person who inserted the axles. Then the wheels were added along with the wheel nuts then the steering wheel. We timed to see how many we could make in one minute compared to other people who were building cars by themselves. We discovered the assembly line was much quicker! Obviously we didn't make real cars but used playdough, cocktail sticks and cheerios!

To finish the week we completed the colour run on the Trim Trail, it was hot but we made it!

We have also said goodbye to Miss Griffin who left as she has finished her teaching qualification and is off the work at a school in Devizes. She has been amazing and we will all miss her. Next week it is back to normal with Mrs Russam being in class Monday - Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. Mrs Watts will be in class on Thursday morning and all day Friday.

Have a great weekend.
