Wow I can’t believe how much we managed to achieve this week before the end of term! We enjoyed reading the story, ‘Funnybones’ which sparked the children’s curiosity about skeletons and bodies. We read some non-fiction texts to help us learn about how our bodies worked. We had great fun imagining what we would look like without a skeleton.

On Monday, we were grateful to have a visit from Mr Humphries and Cooper. The children enjoyed reading the Colour Monster story and petting cooper. He was a big hit with the children in Kangaroo class.

Mrs Watts said she had an amazing time at the parents’ event and that it was lovely to see so many parents/carers. I know lots of fun was had making skeletons from different media. Thank you for attending and making the event such a success.

PE was amazing this week as the children got to consolidate their knowledge of balancing to play a game of ‘pop up pirate’. The children had to stand on one leg whilst their friends balanced different items on their head or their arms. If they wobbled they lost the items and the aim of the game was to balance as much equipment as they could for as long as they were able.

In our maths sessions, the children have continued to practice their subitising skills. This week the children had to listen to the number of drum beats and say how many they heard. They tried hard not to count the number. We had great fun representing four in different ways using the unifix cubes and then using positional language to describe how four had been made. The children also had the opportunity to make their own subitising cards using the stampers.

On Wednesday we discovered a cookie tin but someone had eaten the cookies. Luckily we found a message that helped us work out that the ‘min pins’ had eaten the cookies and left us a game to play. The game was to find the rhyming pairs around the classroom. The children even began to use their reading skills to decode words such as mat, cat and ten.

We had a fabulous last week of term and we hope that you all have a lovely half term. We look forward to seeing you on the 30th October for another fun packed term.
