Weather!

It has been another busy but strangely relaxing time in Giraffe Class this week. WE have begun a new topic looking at the weather. The children have become meteorologists and have looked at the weather each day. They had a go at making the different weather symbols and the Year 2 children recapped on some of the work from last year looking at the United Kingdom. We then thought about the weather in the different seasons and how it can change a lot!

As part of our Mastering Number sessions we have been looking at odd and even numbers using Number blocks. We were a little confused about number 9 as he made a square! We then continued looking at all our shape work, made 2D and 3D shapes with cocktail sticks and discovered that the faces on 3D shapes are made from 2D shapes!

On Wednesday we were really lucky to join a webinar with the author John Dougherty. He has written a lot of nonsense stories including, There’s a pig up my nose! We were really lucky as our class question was read out!

For our music we are now looking at chair drumming. We have been keeping in time to The Wellerman song! It was great fun!

Please can you begin to send in nativity costumes as we are able to store them. If you are having any difficulty finding anything, please do let us know.

Just a reminder that PE kit is needed on a Wednesday and Friday with suitable footwear for PE.

Please check out the RWI blog to support your child with their reading at home. You will also find a password link to Oxford Owl and the children can read a whole selection of books to support their reading in school.

Mrs Watts will be in Giraffe Class on Friday next week.

Have a great weekend.
