Term 2 Starts with a Bang!
Welcome back to the start of another busy term!
It was so lovely to see so many of you attend the Harvest Service on the last week before the half term holiday, and then again on the Wednesday afternoon for our parent event. The children certainly loved having you in class with them and enjoyed completing the activities together.

This week, we have had a great busy week, thinking about Fireworks in different areas of our learning!
In our short History topic, we have been learning about the significance of Bonfire night - why it's celebrated and what the events were.
We also have been looking at poetry in our English lessons this week, and one of the poems was about fireworks and we thought about adjectives that we could use to describe what they looked and sounded like.
In English, we also really enjoyed reading and performing the poems - it was great to see the children reading their favourite poem to the rest of the class.

In Maths this week, the children have been developing their place value understanding, thinking about using a 100 square when counting on and back, counting in tens and partitioning 2 digit numbers. They have used lots of different apparatus to help them develop their understanding.
It's great to see so many of the children coming in with the Reading Journals and getting to move up the balloons for how many times they have read. Please do try and read with your children every day at home - it really does make such a difference to their learning. Remember you can use their log in details from the front of their journal to find more reading material on Oxford Owl that is at the right level for their current reading ability.
Have a wonderful weekend and we will look forward to seeing you again on Monday for another busy week of learning.x
