Plants!

What beautiful weather we have had this week. Spring has definitely sprung! We have started our new Science topic, where we will be learning about plants and trees. We have been investigating how plants grow and have created our own experiment where we are exploring if it is possible to grow a broad bean in a plastic bag with a wet paper towel. You have probably noticed these on our classroom door. We are observing the bean seeds closely every day, looking for small changes in their germination journey. We have also investigated what grows in our school grounds. We spotted daffodils, thistles, primroses, nettles, blossom trees, apple trees, pansies, hyacinths....and even bamboo!

In English, we have been thinking about persuasive letters. We have written formal letters to Mrs Budge to tell her about the litter around the school. We had some very convincing arguments about why litter is such a problem.

In Maths, we have continued to enjoy our measures topic. We have been comparing heights and lengths and have developed our vocabulary whilst doing so. We have used standard and non-standard units of measurement. We also discovered who the tallest and shortest boys and girls are in Zebra class!

On Monday, we will be visiting Warminster Park to see what plants and trees grow there. We will have a look at whether the trees are evergreen or deciduous. We

will be travelling to Warminster by train, which will be very exciting. The children need to wear school jumpers, sensible trousers and very comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking! A small backpack will be needed to carry lunch.
