Honeybees Friday 19th July
We can't quite believe we are nearing the end of another school year. What a privilege it has been to watch all of our amazing Honeybees grow and develop in so many ways over this last year! We couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them!
The children had great fun this week learning the story Shark in the Park by Nick Sharratt. The story is brilliantly repetitive, the children quickly learnt these parts and they were fantastic at retelling the story themselves with expression. The story tells the tale of a little boy called Timothy who goes to the park with his telescope. Unfortunately each time he looks through his telescope he sees what he thinks is a shark before realizing it is not, calling out loudly, 'there's a shark in the park!' The children not only told the story well they also made their own telescopes, focused on directional language such as up, down, left and right and made very detailed shark pictures.
In math's this week we have focused our learning on more complex repeated patterns, making them out of coloured blocks, leaves, stones and counting bears. The children were able to continue patterns and make patterns of their own.
For our artwork this week the children went on a nature walk to find their own resources to create a leaf character. The children listened well to instructions, thought carefully about where to place their leaves and sticks and their final pieces were so imaginative.
Our busy week was finished off with a fun filled water fight! The children took great delight in getting the grown-ups wet and they had lots of fun splashing each other too. After all the running and excitement, the children enjoyed an ice lolly in the sun. It was a super afternoon!
As this is the last blog of the year, we would like to thank you for all your support this year and wish you all a wonderful summer holiday. Fingers crossed the sun will continue to shine!
