Holburne Museum and Discothon
What a busy week Leopard Class had!
With school photos on Monday, swimming on Tuesday, Trip on Wednesday and Discothon on Friday, the children have had a fun filled week and have coped incredibly.
In maths, we have been using numberlines and manipulatives to compare and order numbers. The children have used the language of 'less than', 'fewer than' and 'greater than' to compare numbers and amounts.
We have come to the end of our art topic, learning all about Augusta Savage and making our own scultures of busts based on ourselves. The children have remembered so much and have demonstrated a great understanding of how to make a clay sculpture and ways to change its form.
Our trip to Holburne Museum was fantastic! The children were amazing and a credit to the school. We started off by taking a walk in Sydney Gardens where we admired the nature and thought about what we could hear, see and feel. One of the highlights was seeing the trains go past and even getting a wave and horn from the drivers! Then, we enjoyed a break in the park before we had lunch. Next, we went into the classroom for a sculpture workshop. We took a brief walk around the museum to admire some of the sculptures around before heading back to the room to make out own figure by covering a wire frame with mod rock. The children were so engaged and it was the quietest I've seen some of them!
NOTE:
- Please remember that book change day and library is on a Friday. This is when it will be important for the children to have their book bags with them to return their books, even on an event day like the Discothon. Please send the children in with books they are yet to return :)
- Miss McMillan will be in all week.
