Geography and instruction writing.

This short week has been full of great work from the children in Leopard Class!

For English this week, we read the story 'Rabbit Problem' and started to think about what a rabbit needs. The children were reminded of their instruction writing from earlier this year and everyone had a go at writing a set of instructions for how to look after a rabbit. They did an amazing job at this!

In maths, we have begun looking at fractions, we revised making equal and unequal groups before moving on to look at finding a ½ of shapes and different objects. This included investigating with mirrors to find halves of thing around our classroom, the children loved seeing how this worked.

Topic has seen us start a new unit as geographers and looking at our local area. We started by thinking about describing where we live and the landmarks we see around Westbury and on our way to school. The children drew their route to school and described it using different key words. We learned about human and physical features, what this meant and what we could find around the school. We also labelled a map with a key of our school.
Next week we will be going for a walk around Westbury on Wednesday afternoon. Please let me know if you can support with this!
