Adventure Awaits: A Day in the Little City Role-Play Wonderland!
The children were thrilled as Little City set up its vibrant role-play centre at the WCP. Transforming the space into a bustling miniature town, the children eagerly explored the various areas, from the chic hairdressers where they styled hair with colourful accessories, to the builders' zone where they constructed and demolished various block structures. The post office buzzed with activity as the mail was sorted, while the laundrette encouraged the children to clean. At the Three Bears Café, they whipped up delicious imaginary treats, while the garage area sparked their interest in vehicles with mini car repairs. The vets allowed them to care for stuffed animals, and the shop offered a chance to stock up on the daily essentials. Meanwhile, the police/fire station emphasised teamwork and community safety, making the day not only entertaining but also educational, as the children learned the value of each role in their vibrant Little City.
This week in maths we have been busy making collections of 1-3. The children went on a hunt for items around the room and compared the ways they had made, 1,2 and 3. We introduced a five frame to the children so they could represent numbers using counters. We had fun playing five frame flash so the children could subitise (see the amount, don't count) the number of counters on a five frame. We used these videos that the children really enjoyed using.
In our Squiggle sessions the children were excited to make spirals. We had some amazing dancing whilst the children created their spiral shapes. The poem this week was 'Scared' which the children performed wonderfully throughout the week. This week we finished our single letter sounds. Why not check out the RWI blog to help your child work towards the target of knowing 16 sounds.

On Friday we had our very first 'Far Away Friday' the children had fun learning about Poland. Mr Brewer gave a short presentation about the country and then the children had the opportunity to sing old McDonald in both English and Polish. We learnt how to say hello and goodbye as well as have a go at counting. Following on from the presentation, the children could make a polish flag, build important landmarks and experience the food at 'Kangaroo Cafe.' It was a fantastic way to end the week and who knows where the next Far Away Friday will takes us.
Don't forget we have our parent celebration on Wednesday 23rd October at 2.30pm. We will be making skeletons using different media,
Have a lovely weekend
