Colour Run for Leopard Class!
We started a new topic in DT of 'How do we make a moving car model?'. The children will be building on a cardboard box to make their own car. This week, the children recognised parts of a car and then looked at wheels and axels. They used wooden wheels, cotton reels, straws and sticks to make they own. On Friday, the children designed their car and we will use this next week when we make them.
In English, we have identified features of a persuasive letter and ordered parts of a letter to know its structure. At the end of the week, the children worked in groups to come up with reasons why different objects (from Mrs Armitage on Wheels) are best to add to a bike. The groups went head to head to persuade the rest of the class why their object was better than the other. The children were very persuasive and had some great ideas!
We have been consolidating our prior learning in Maths this week, the Year 2 children have been using their number bond knowledge to link facts and the Year 1 children created fact families now. We also completed number lines with missing numbers and read the scales on the lines.
The children have been playing the ocarinas in music, and this week we started to learn Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Finally, the children took part in the sponsored colour run on Friday. They all looked fantastic in their bright, colourful clothing and made an amazing effort to run around the trim trail as many times as they could!
