Cars, Cars, and more Cars!!!

I will let the pictures speak for themselves this week but can I just say how wonderful all of the children were on our trip to Haynes Motor Museum this week.  We had the best day – the children enthusiastically demonstrating all that they had learnt, whilst getting up close and even into to the cars that they have been learning about in class!  Our guides were fantastic and the children were a credit to our school, listening and engaging throughout the day.  Well done Brilliant Beetles!  Also, a huge thank you to the parents who joined us for the day, your help and support was very much appreciated. we hope you had as much fun as we did.

We took our learning outside of the classroom in maths too this week.  We used a variety of containers to investigate capacity and volume.  The children used the different containers to look first at different volumes before moving onto reading the scales and finding different amounts.  The children used their maths vocabulary to explain what they were doing and we had lots of fun learning with the water activities on the hot days.

In PE, the children had to complete the challenge of moving a variety of objects from one side of the hall to the other without moving.  They worked as a team to throw, slide, roll or bounce the objects to successfully complete the challenge.  Again, as always great teamwork and encouragement throughout.

In Life Skills, we shared the story of ‘Incredible You’ by Rhys Brisenden.  The children then completed a fact sheet all about themselves – it was so lovely to read all about their favourite things and hear why they know they are special. Here’s a link to the book so you can share it at home with your child.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOiC2fiLXOE

Please keep reading with our child each day and please can you check that your child is bringing their reading book and journal to school each day as we are fortunate to have additional adults in school to listen to the children read.  Also, additional resources to support your child and their reading can be found on the RWI blog https://www.westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk/News/Friday-23rd-June-2023/

Next week, we have transition afternoons planned for the children to go and visit their new teachers at Westbury Juniors.  The children will be brought back to school for the end of the day and will need to be collected from classroom 5 at 3.15pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Next week, Mrs Jeffery will be in class Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with Mrs Rockey taking Beetle class on Thursday.

Wishing you all a very happy sunny weekend!

Mrs Jeffery, Mrs Rockey, Miss Smith and Mrs Ball.
