Wallaby Term 3 week 2

Welcome to another week in Wallaby class. The children appear to be more settled and enjoying being in their new class.

The children have had another busy week doing some super learning. They have enjoyed lots of investigating and exploring the outside area, particularly the ice and 'rescuing' the objects that have been frozen overnight!

In English the blasting into space theme has continued and we have enjoyed reading The Smeds and the Smoos. The children recognised that the words in the story rhymed and they had a go at describing the pictures. We discussed which planet we would like to live on and why? The children enjoyed designing their own Alien out of playdough, stickle bricks and drawing and labelling an Alien.

Our topic has taken us (via Google Earth) into space to see Earth and where Westbury is located on our planet. We looked at some buildings and some features of Westbury. The children talked about what buildings and features they see on their way to school.

Our Music this week took us to Africa, and the children enjoyed listening to some African music. They listened to what instruments they could hear and the speed of the music compared to 'If you're happy and you know it'.

In Maths the children learned the different ways to make 5. We sang 5 little speckled frogs. The children recognised how many frogs were left on the log and how many were in the pool. We found out that 4+1=5 and 3+2=5.

You have all been super learners this week Wallabies, well done!
