Happy Easter!!!

We definitely had a very busy but enjoyable last week of term. The children loved our visit to Bath City Farm on Tuesday. The children were mini farmers for the day and enjoyed seeing all the animals. The piglets were a big hit as they were so cute and tiny!! The three alpaca brothers were very well behaved and the greedy goats were keen to be fed by the children. The chickens took our visit as an opportunity to escape the pen but fortunately they didn't get far so we could return them. After a very busy morning the children had a rest during lunch and enjoyed a quick visit to the play park before we headed back to school. Thank you to all the adults that volunteered to help make our trip run smoothly and of course to Farmer Polly who was a fantastic tour guide.

Kangaroos Farm Visit

Maths, this week was all about measuring height and length. The children started the week with some fun measuring activities. First we started with length the children made different caterpillars using playdough then compared the lengths using the language longer and shorter than. We then checked the measurement of the caterpillars by using the cubes. When looking at height the children had the opportunity to play a game. Each child took it in turns to roll the dice and then build a tower to match the number that they rolled. Who ever built the tallest tower was the winner. The children compared the heights of their towers using the language taller and shorter than.

It was lovely to see so many parents attend our parent event on Wednesday afternoon. The children were keen to show off their phonic skills and enjoyed playing a range of games to apply their knowledge. The code breaker proved to be a little tricky but we got there in the end! In our English this week we were shocked to discover bunny prints as we entered school on Thursday. We had a message from the Easter Bunny who was so upset because the animals who usually help at Easter were unable to. The hens went on holiday, the bunnies had measles and the moles had disappeared. We had to help the Easter Bunny solve her problems....we thought of all the animals that laid eggs, that could spare some hair to make paintbrushes to decorate the eggs and finally the animals that could dig the tunnels for the Easter Bunny to deliver the eggs. The children then wrote to all the animals to help and guess what Kangaroo class saved the day and the Easter Bunny was so happy! We got to meet her in a Fantastic Easter Egg hunt and spent the afternoon making Easter nests as a yummy treat. I think you'll agree it was the perfect way to end the term!!

It is amazing to reflect on the progress the children have made this term - they really have worked hard and deserve the best Easter break!!! I hope you all have a wonderful Easter Break. We look forward to seeing the children on the 16th April when we return to school.
