The UK, maths and diary writing

This week has been full of fantastic learning.

We completed our English work on 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' this week. The children learned about the features of a diary before having a go at planning and writing one of their own by putting themselves into Mr Grinling's shoes. We were all really impressed with the children's writing. They did a great job of capturing Mr Grinling's voice, being very grumpy with those pesky seagulls!

In maths, we added and subtracted tens before using a tens frame and base ten to add two 2-digit numbers together. The even challenged themselves to cross ten by exchanging.

PE this week was all about using different muscles to travel in various ways. This included pulling themselves along a bench, walking tall on their tiptoes, bunny hopping between hoops and army crawling across a mat.

We also concluded our Geography topic this week, the children discovered new things about Wales and Northern Ireland, before showing off all of their learning of the countries that make up the UK in a one page poster. Leopards loved watching Irish dancing and even had a go at some steps!

In computing, we used the shape, fill and line tools to recreate Piet Mondrian's artwork.

And most importantly, every Monday, we are very lucky to have Mr Humphries and Cooper come in to listen to readers. This week, we found out that Cooper loves bubbles!
Please ensure the children bring in their books and reading records to not miss out on the opportunity to read.
