Music Concert and Cars for Leopard Class!
What a busy week we have had!
On Thursday morning, we were lucky to have a visit from the New Orleans Band. The whole school enjoyed hearing their amazing songs in the hall. They each introduced themselves and the instruments they played, and the children even enjoyed a dance at the end!
In music, the children continued playing the ocarinas and practising 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. Each group played a note and they worked together to perform the whole song.
In maths, we focused on revising different areas, including addition, subtraction, time and fractions.
The children wrote a recount of their school trip to Haynes Motor Museum this week. We began by sharing the story of Bertha Benz, the wife of Karl who made the first motor wagon, before ordering the events of our trip. We used time connectives to retell the story verbally and this helped us to write a recount over the following two days.
In topic, the children evaluated their made cars to think about what went well, what they found easy/ tricky and how it could be improved. Then, the children wrote instructions ' to answer our DT question: 'How to make a moving model car?' We ended the week by testing their cars. The children had time outside where they drew roads and parking bays to drive their cars around. They also used cubes/ lego to make buildings. It was a lovely afternoon and the children enjoyed running their creations around.
