Our main focus in Honeybee Class this week has been celebrations and in particular birthdays. We have based our learning around the story Kipper's Birthday by Mick Inkpen. In the story Kipper prepares for his birthday by writing his friends invitations, delivering his invitations and baking a cake. In class, we spoke about why we have a birthday, whether the children have been to or had a party themselves and any special gifts they have received. 

The children really enjoyed the story. They created birthday invitations and birthday cards using their writing skills to write their name and a wonderful amount of creativity. In addition to this they designed their very own birthday cakes for Kipper and had lots of fun singing happy birthday to him.

In math's we have focused on accurately counting when being given a larger group of objects. In addition to this we have sang lots of counting rhymes involving numbers to 5 and 10. The children have become much more confident at quickly finding a total and enjoyed using counting rhymes in their imaginative play. 

In PE the children have been learning to balance and roll. PE sessions are always met with huge enthusiasm and the children are fantastic at giving new moves a go and are getting better at trying to control their body movements.

Lastly, we have been so very proud of how well the children are playing alongside each other this week. We have seen some fantastic sharing, turn taking and asking others to join in with play. Well done Honeybees!
