Great first week back!
Welcome back Wallaby Class and what a lovely week it has been! We have had very mixed weather either very wet or lovely and sunny! When it has been sunny, Wallaby class have made the most of being outside playing in the water area, enjoying the Veterinary Surgery and playing on the trikes.
This week in Drawing Club, we have really enjoyed reading the story ‘What The Ladybird Heard’. The children loved hearing about the two bad thieves ‘Hefty Hugh’ and ‘Lanky Len’ and how they tried to steal the fine prized cow. We had some fantastic actions to words which included Hefty, Lanky, Revolting, Cunning, Dainty, Crept, Golly Gosh and Dead of night. The children drew their own characters, maps and exciting settings and were able to explain all their ideas brilliantly.
In Maths this week, we have been looking at units of time and seeing how many star jumps, touching toes etc we can do in 30 seconds. We set the timer so the children could count down. We have also looked at the numbers 9 and 10 as well as days of the week.
Topic this week has been great fun too. We have talked about the different seasons, focussing on Spring, we have made sheep pictures in art and in music, the children heard a piece of music from Carnival of the Animals and had to guess the animal.
Please keep sending your children in with their welly boots. There has been lots of rain recently and the children love jumping in the puddles!
