Countdown to Christmas!
This week Christmas arrived in Kangaroo Class! The children were amazed to find that Sparkles and Fred had got a Christmas tree for the classroom. They eagerly started to decorate it with beautiful baubles and flashing lights. The Christmas tree looks amazing and has taken a prime position in our role-play area. The children have loved dressing as Santa, elves and Mrs Claus to tell stories.
We read the story, 'The Jolly Postman' and received our very own letter from Sparkles and Fred. The children inspired by the symbols in our letter created their very own pictures with the challenge to include a word and a number. We had all different numbers but 4 and 5 seemed to be the favourite.
Glitter, glue and sparkles have adorned our creative table. The children have loved making their crafts to sell at the Christmas Fayre next week. You can get a sneak peak of what is to be sold in the photos below. The children have made some very special reindeer food ready to put out on Christmas eve as they mixed and stirred the mixture the children made their Christmas wishes.
In our Maths learning this week the focus has been on shape. The children have looked at shapes with four sides particularly squares and rectangles. We started the week by sorting shapes into those that had four sides and those that didn't. On a shape hunt we looked for squares and rectangles within our classroom environment. At the end of the week we thought about day and night. We discussed what activities happened during the day and night.
Our rehearsals for our Christmas show have taken place this week. On Thursday the children had a dress rehearsal take a look at some of the photos below to see them in their lovely costumes. They are doing amazingly well with their speaking parts and singing. We hope you enjoy the show next week!
