Little Pig...Little Pig....Please can I come in?

This week the children have loved reading the story of 'The Three Little Pigs'. We have looked at different versions of the same story and compared how they are similar or different. The children are becoming fantastic story tellers and they are beginning to remember this story by heart.

In our Topic sessions the children have been learning about Autumn and woodlands. This week the children went on a hunt around school to spot the signs of Autumn. They were really great at identifying the features of the season. The children also thought about what animals would live in a woodland area and next week we will continue to look at this further.

This week we also took time to reflect on the significance of Remembrance day and the children had the opportunity to make a poppy using different media. You can see the amazing poppies made in the pictures below.

Our Maths, this week has focused on the number five. The children have explored what is five and what is not five. The children have also been introduced to a 'die frame' and how to represent numbers on this. We also consolidated our understanding of more and fewer.

The children are making real progress with their reading and writing. This week the children had to label some animals that would be found in the woodlands. It was amazing to see them applying their phonic knowledge. If you would like to support your child's phonic knowledge further then please check out the RWI blog: https://www.westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk/News/Friday-10th-November-2023/

We had an amazing week and we hope the children have a fantastic weekend. Next week our story will be the Gruffalo.
