15th November
This week has been a very busy week in Wallaby Class. The children have been learning about Remembrance Day. We talked about why we celebrate it and the importance of remembering all those soldiers who had served in wars. We also observed a minute silence in the classroom. The children enjoyed making Poppies and proudly wore them in the classroom.
We have also been thinking and talking about Autumn. The children have enjoyed colouring and making Hedgehogs out of playdough. In our Message centre lesson this week, we had a special message from the Min Pins. These are little fairy people who can visit our classroom through a fairy door. The children were left special symbols which they had to work out. They then had to write their own symbols and explain the meaning.
In Maths this week we have been exploring the number 4. The children have had to decide what is 4 and what is not 4. They had pictures to sort into two groups and they all did so well.
Don’t forget to check out our RWI blog to support your child’s reading development. Some children will come home with a book/Ditty Sheet this week as well as a reading diary. Inside the reading diary, will be a sticker with a login to Oxford owl which is a site we subscribe to and you can access to support your child’s learning. Please remember to send your child’s book and reading diary back into school every Friday. Some children are still working on their sound knowledge so please continue to use the cards to develop their fluency. Children will only come home with a book when they can blend sounds to read words.
Next week
On Tuesday we have our first school trip to Moors Valley. Please remember to send your child with a bag and come to school in their own clothes and footwear suitable for being in the Woods.
