Wonderful Wookey Hole!

It’s been another wonderful week in Wallaby Class.  On Tuesday we had a fantastic day at Wookey Hole, exploring caves, taking part in a dinosaur dig, a brilliant soft play area and the 4-D cinema.  We were so proud of all the children and they certainly had a fantastic day.

This week in Drawing Club, we have been reading the story ‘Are the Dinosaurs Dead, Dad’ and we have been learning the meaning of the following words, Extinct, Imagination, Ignore, Predator, Stretchy, Squash, Rigid and Opposite.  The children have thought of their own actions to help them remember the meaning of the words. They have drawn their own Dinosaurs, thought about where their dinosaurs might live and imagined they are brave explorers on a mission to discover a hidden valley where dinosaurs still live.

In Maths, we have been using a tens frame with double sided counters.  The children had to put an amount of counters on their tens frame in red and then add more counters in yellow, before finding the total amount.  They had to use the language ‘first, then and now’.  We have also been learning how to take away from an initial amount to find a smaller total.  They have done so well with their maths learning this week.

In topic, we have continued with our music learning the song ‘Big Bear Funk’ we have talked about our school trip to Wookey Hole, learnt how to mix primary colours to make secondary colours and practicing for Sport’s day in a few weeks.

Please remember to bring in a sunhat as the weather is lovely and Sunny at the moment.

Have a lovely weekend!
