Wonderful Geography!
What a busy and exciting week we have had in Panda Class!
On Monday afternoon, the weather was with us and the forecast thunderstorms didn't come to anything, so we were able to go on our Geography walk around Westbury with Meerkat class. We had a great time searching for examples of physical and manmade features as we walked around the town.
We also learned some more about the history of the town thanks to one of the parent helpers in Meerkat class, who could tell us about the special blue signs that we saw near the church.
Continuing our Geography topic later in the week, we also learned about aerial maps and why we have keys on maps. We did some wonderful independent learning with this, creating some amazing maps on the playground with chalk and in the classroom with lots of different resources.
In English this week, we have been studying a new book called Window which is a story told through only the illustrations. We have thought lots about the pictures and what they show us and how the view from the window changes over time.
In our Maths lessons we have continued to learn about fractions - finding fractions of shapes and groups of objects and numbers. Some of this has been a bit tricky, but the children have showed great resilience to keep practicing.
Hopefully this wonderful weather will continue next week so that Sports Day will go ahead on Wednesday afternoon. Please do come along and watch your children take part. This also means that the children will also need to have their PE kits on Wednesday as well as their usual PE day on Tuesday. Friday next week is non-school uniform but if they could wear something that would be suitable for PE too, that would be wonderful!
Next term, we are going on our final school trip of the year to Lacock on Tuesday 19th June. If you are free and would like to come along with us, we do need some parent helpers please. If you could email Class5@westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk to let us know, that would be great thanks.
Have a fabulous weekend and see you next week for the last week before the half term break!
