What a cracking week!
We have had some visitors in class this week while we were writing some poems about Spring and new life... 6 chicks between a day and a week old, their mummy hen and 3 eggs waiting to hatch came into class to help inspire us to write our poems. We all loved listening to the chicks as well as getting to see them run around. Everyone who wanted to also got the opportunity to hold one and we loved how soft and fluffy they were!
In Maths this week, we have continued to learn about money and the children have enjoyed using the notes and coins to buy things from the class shop as well as use them in their play!
We moved on to learning about Summer in our Seasons topic this week, which with this lovely weather, felt very appropriate... and made us all want to head to the beach and have an ice cream!
We have also been thinking about weather in our indoor PE lessons the last 2 weeks and the children created some lovely dance sequences thinking about different types of weather.
Pandas 2nd May
Hopefully this lovely weather is here to stay! Please make sure that you have put an all day sun-cream on in the morning before school and that your child comes in to school with a sunhat to wear when we go outside.
Please do keep practicing your sounds at home and reading the book that comes home each Friday as well as the ones available on the Oxford Owl website - it really does make such a big difference to your child's reading!
Hopefully now that we have had a couple of weeks back to our old timetable, we will remember (I forgot this week and wore PE kit on Monday!) but we have PE on Tuesdays and Fridays again now, and this will be the same until the end of the year.
On Monday 12th May, as part of our Geography topic about our local area, we are going to go for a walk around Westbury in the afternoon. We really use some helpers to come along with us, so if you are available, please do let us know.
Enjoy this lovely weather over the bank holiday weekend. We'll look forward to seeing you back in class on Tuesday morning!
