Welcome Leopards!
Hello and welcome to Leopard Class blogs! The children have already made an amazing start to the year and I am really looking forward to the year ahead. Well done Leopards! The children worked really well this week in getting to know the KS1 routine and year 2s really stepped up to support the year 1 children to do this.
The children have settled in to their new classroom, as returning children know the classroom has moved around a little bit! This week, we have focused on establishing classroom and school routines. Together, they’ve been exploring the classroom, making new friends, and showing us everything they can do.
This week, we have been doing lots of activities to get to know each other.
In maths, we have been showing off what we can do to find totals of numbers and use their maths to play games.
We learned a little bit about the animal our class is named after; Leopards and the children described what Leopards look like and wrote a fact about them.
The children joined their new RWI groups this week to meet their RWI leaders and Book Bag reading books will be sent home next Friday for you to share with your child. Books and reading journals will now be sent home in a clear folder. Please send this folder into school every day and do visit the RWI blog to access resources to support your child.
Just some reminders:
- PE is on Monday (outdoor) and Wednesday (indoor) for Leopard Class and children will need to come to school in their PE kit on those days:
- A plain white t-shirt
- Black shorts/joggers
- When PE is in the hall, the children are barefoot and when PE is outside, their normal school shoes are perfectly adequate to be able to take part safely. Daps can be sent in if you prefer, but are not essential.
- Children can wear their school sweatshirt/cardigan
- As we are a ‘slipper school’, the children take their shoes off once inside the building. If your child is unable to untie and tie their own laces, please can their school shoes be slip on or Velcro instead. Please ensure that your child’s uniform, including hats, coats and lunchboxes, are labelled – it really does make it easier to identify and reunite children and their belongings. Thank you 😊
- The new dinner menu is on the website, please do look at the menu with your child to help them when choosing their daily option. https://www.westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk/Noticeboard/Lunch-Menus/
- Our library day is on Fridays.
Hope you have had a lovely weekend,
Miss McMillan and the Leopard Class team :)
