Water, Fire and Music

This week has continued to be a warm one and the children have coped amazingly. Luckily, maths has been about measuring volume and capacity. The children enjoyed using water to measure and compare different containers.

In English, we have begun looking at a new story called 'The Building Boy'. It is a beautiful story which the children have enjoyed reading. They have made predictions, written a book review, looked at the meanings of new words and focused on some grammar skills like writing questions and using -er and -est endings.

In history, we have continued with our learning about the Great Fire of London.  We have put on our historian hats and looked at how we know what happened and how we piece the evidence together.  We made a replica narrow street and re-enacted the causes of the ferocious fire before implementing actions like those taken all that time ago to stop the fire – fire breaks!

Our PE lessons have been about dancing and creating moves like different types of toys and handling rackets, balancing a ball and being able to control it on the racket.

On Friday, we discussed how you don't need an instrument to make music. The children explored this and loved using objects around the room to create different sounds!
