Warminster Park and the train!
This week has been full of exciting learning.
We had our trip to Warminster Park as part of our science topic, looking at plants. It was amazing boarding the train and making our way to the park to scatter wildflower seeds, dig up soil ready for planting, walk around the lake (being careful of the geese!) and of course having a fun time in the play park. It was a lot of walking, but it was a great day and the weather held up for us!
We have checked in with our beans and have seen that they now have roots! The children look forward to observing more changes.
To link to our science topic, Mr R planned a DT lesson, using our knowledge of mechanisms- hinges and sliders. He created a model to show how a flower grows and the children had a go at making their own.
In English, we started a new story called 'Oliver's Vegetables'. The story is about a little boy who spends the week with his Grandpa and Gran, he only like chips until he has to try other vegetables while he tries to look for the potatoes. The children described a special person to them, before ordering the events of the story and acting them out- thinking carefully about how each character would move and what they sound like.
We have started statistics in maths where we have looked at tallies and tables.
The children created algorithms in computing to instruct a Bee-Bot to move from one shape to another. If the algorithm was wrong, the children had to de-bug it.
We look forward to a busy final week of term!
