Warminster Park and a Big Surprise!
What a wonderful week we have had in Meerkat class this week. At the end of the day we took some time to reflect and it was great to hear the children animatedly share their best bits and their positive feelings towards school. They truly are an amazing bunch.
We started the week with our trip to Warminster Park. The children had the opportunity to get hands on when the grounds team met us and asked if we wanted to prepare and plant up the flower beds. They did not need to ask twice! Seeds were scattered and the soil was turned over – we even found a worm. We have been advised that their seeds should be in full bloom from May onwards so if you visit the park do check out ‘our’ flower beds and share your photos with us. Linking to our science topic we got to see a variety of trees, and the children were able to identify deciduous and evergreen trees before we took to the play park and had great fun on all of the equipment before heading back to school on the train.
On Tuesday we had a visit from an external trainer who led a ‘circle time’ with Meerkat class. We got to meet Timmy the shy turtle and even skipped into a magical skipping rope. The children were fantastic and Jenny was very impressed with the children’s vocabulary and their great listening skills. More gems in the jar!
However, the top treat this week was our surprise visit on Thursday from Mrs Allen and baby Sonnie. The children were so excited to see Mrs Allen and meet Sonnie. There were lots and lots of questions for Mrs Allen and then the children shared all their news with Mrs Allen. Sonnie slept through most of the visit but did wake for his photo shoot with the marvellous Meerkats.
We finished the week with extra playtime on the trim trail as the class reward for filling their gem jar. Well done marvellous Meerkats! We have also been very busy in between all of this growing our brains but I’ll let the photos show that.
Next week on Tuesday 1st April, we will be walking to All Saint’s Church for our Easter service. Due to limited space in the church, only parents and carers of Kangaroo, Koala, Wallaby, and Honeybee classes are invited to join us to attend the service. However, if you are able to help by walking to and from the church with us please let me know using the class email. We will be leaving at 1.25pm and be back by 3.05pm.
Next Thursday 3rd April we have our Parent event in class at 2.30pm. We are very much looking forward to seeing you and sharing our favourite stories with you.
I will be in class Monday – Thursday next week and Mrs Rous will be teaching Meerkats on Friday. Our wonderful TA, Miss Smith will be in with the Meerkats all week.
Wishing all the Meerkat Mummies a very happy Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mrs Jeffery and Miss Smith.
