Supper Spotters of the Signs of Spring
Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely relaxing Easter time, enjoying the lighter evenings and brighter days as well as eating some delicious chocolate! The children have all returned full of energy and enthusiasm for what should be a really fun term.
In Science we are learning about the seasons and had lots of fun taking our learning outside to spot the signs of spring. We listened to the birds chirping, spotted beautiful blossom on the trees as well as seeing spring flowers, butterflies and bees. We also collected data to help us notice how the hours of daylight are longer in Summer and shorter in Winter. We love taking our learning outside!
Every week we try and visit the library as Panda Class look forward to sharing books together and the more they see themselves as readers the more enjoyment and pleasure they take from sharing books. It was lovely this week to see the children reading together, spotting alliteration which we had talked about during our English lesson and discovering texts that were related to our learning about seasons and poetry.

In maths this week Panda Class have grasped learning about the value of money VERY quickly! They have really impressed us with how well they are able to count in pounds and pence and in their independent learning times they have taken great delight in filling their bags with lots and lots of different notes and were very quickly able to count £355 or other large amounts of money! Well done Panda Class for using your knowledge of counting in twos fives tens to help count pounds and pence.
Finally in English we have started a topic on poetry through using a book called OUT AND ABOUT by Shirley Hughes. It is a wonderful book of a selection of simple poems about the seasons with beautiful illustrations. We began the week by using all our senses to explore water, mud and sand. Today we performed some of the poems to each other working hard to create our own actions to help us recite them by heart.

We finished the week completing a sponsored silence which at times was very tricky especially when the giggles started to trickle around the classroom! But we did stop a number of times throughout the day and I am very pleased to say we managed it! So well done Panda Class.
Have a lovely weekend x
