Superb Scientists!

It has been another fantastically busy week in Giraffe Class. The children are going from strength to strength with their learning and friendships. The children now have incredibly established routines which is so lovely to see. Today, your child has been given a clear folder to keep their reading books and reading diary safe. These need to be in school each day and put into the basket in class each morning.

This week we have been reading ‘The Bog Baby’, a copy can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0twzqjXOfek. The children have been creating their own Bog Baby, describing settings ang giving them super powers! The writing has blown our socks off and the sentences have been clear with full stops and capital letters.

Maths has seen us counting accurately within 10 and the Year 2 children have been reinforcing their knowledge of number bonds. We have been using lots of different apparatus to help us.

We have begun our new Science topic of ‘Who Lives Here and Why?’ the children have all been given a knowledge organiser showing what we will be covering and the key knowledge. They will get one of these at the beginning of each new topic and are for your information. They should help to promote discussion and are a good starting point for ‘What did you do at school today….!’ We have been looking at objects that are living, dead and never been alive and had to classify into different groups. The children then explored the basic needs of living things and how they survive. The photographs speak for themselves!

We had a very special visit from Cooper the reading dog who will be with some of the Key Stage 1 classes each Monday.

If you have any questions, please speak to the adult on the door or email us at class2@westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk. The most up to date information can be found on the newsletter and the school website.

Have a great weekend.
