Playful Practicing Pandas

What a busy week Panda Class have had this week. We began by welcoming a new little boy into our Class this week and we hope he has started to feel settled in his new environment and is beginning to make some lovely new friends. Panda Class are a very friendly bunch and are super at looking out for each other.

We began the week marking Anti- Bullying Week by wearing ODD socks and celebrating differences;  we paused on Tuesday to think about those who gave up their lives for us in the Great War and we ended the week wearing our PJs to support Children in Need.

In English we continued to use the book Where the Poppies Now Grow to help us imagine what it might have been like to be a soldier in the war, fighting in the trenches. The children needed to write in the first person, use the past tense and include details about how they might have been feeling.  We were so impressed with their lovely diary extracts and how determined they were to use more challenging words.

In PE the children have been having lots of fun learning to develop their ball skills and sprinting techniques. In Computing they began to learn how to take a good photo and from some of their pictures you can see a first and second attempt where they practiced getting nearer to see which looked better.  Keep an eye on your IPads and phones as once they start snapping their will be no stopping them!  We began our new science topic this week looking at How do animals survive?  We have thought about how we can keep ourselves healthy through good personal hygiene and we have thought about what living things need to stay alive.

Please continue to hear your children read their book every night as repetition builds confidence and fluenc, both of which will help your child to develop pleasure in reading and a greater understanding of the text they read.

Have a lovely weekend - embrace the rain with a pair of wellies!
