Plants and letters of persuasion
Firstly, thank you to everyone who attended parents evening. It was lovely to catch up and celebrate the children's learning with you all.
We have begun a new Science topic looking at plants and trees. We have investigated our school grounds to see what we can find growing there. We have looked at the structure of the plants and had a go at drawing them. You might have seen some bags hanging on our windows, these are bean seeds and we are looking at what happens when they germinate.
The children wrote persuasive letter this week to Mrs Budge, all about how important it is to clean up around the school and pick up litter. The children did a fantastic job and we eagerly await her reply.
In maths, we have been practising our measuring skills. In particular, thinking about comparing and ordering measurements, using language like shorter and taller or longer. The children continued to do lots of practical exploring of measuring and comparing objects around the classroom. We then applied our knowledge of measurement to solve problems, involving all of the four operations.
PE outside was all about passing the ball to our team players in different ways, including a bounce pass and chest pass. The children worked really hard to throw and receive the ball.
Next week, we have our trip to Warminster Park on Tuesday 25th. Children are to wear school uniform and comfortable shoes as we will be doing lots of walking; wellies are not required but a warm coat is as we will be outside all day. A packed lunch will be provided by school so please ensure your child has a small rucksack/backpack to carry this in.
