Moving, Measuring and Making things happen!
What another super week we have had in Panda Class! The weather has been glorious again - we do love the sunshine! Even better, we've been back out on the Trim Trail for play times and lunch times again now that the grass isn't muddy anymore. It's been lovely to see the children playing out there so happily - and watching their imaginations flourish with the games they play.
It was also wonderful to see so many of you on Tuesday and Wednesday at Parents Evening. We hope you enjoyed seeing all the hard work that the children have been doing in their books over the year and hearing about the fantastic progress they have been making as much as we enjoyed sharing it with you.
In our lessons this week, we have continued to practice measuring in Maths, particularly thinking about comparing and ordering measurements, using language like shorter and taller or longer. The children continued to do lots of practical exploring of measuring and comparing objects around the classroom. We then thought about using our knowledge of measurement to solve problems. This was quite challenging, but the children tried their very best and showed great resilience.
Our English lessons were all about trying to make things happen - in particular, trying to persuade Mrs Budge to help us solve the problem of litter around the school. We wrote some wonderful persuasive letters to her, so lets hope they do the trick!
We have begun our new Science topic this week, and enjoyed planting beans so that we can watch them grow over the coming weeks. We also went on a lovely walk around to the school grounds, finding different plants and wild flowers. We have also been looking closely at plants and flowers, creating some lovely observational drawings.
We have continued to work on our programming skills in computing, with making some longer and more detailed sets of instructions for our Beebots. The children enjoyed exploring how they could get the Beebot from one place to another in a range of different ways.
Pandas 21st March
Another busy and exciting week next week, with our trip to Warminster Park on Monday. Although the weather isn't looking amazing over the weekend, the forecast is suggesting the rain will be gone again by Monday, but please make sure you send your child to school with a jacket and a rucksack to carry their lunch, as we have a fair bit of walking to do - and we'll still be going even if there is some rain.
It's also the penultimate swimming lesson on Tuesday - so please remember swimming kits again. The children have been absolutely fabulous in the pool and it is a delight to see them making such fantastic progress in such a short space of time.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and we'll look forward to seeing you on Monday.x
