Magnificent Measurers and Cheerful Colour Runners!
Well done amazing Pandas for another week of super learning. We ended the week with an enjoyable colour run this afternoon. The children showed great resilience and determination in completing lots of circuits of the trim trail all dressed in bright colours. It was an awesome sight! Our aim was ten times around as this is 1 mile. We gave it a really good go, with a cheerful spirit and lots of us achieved it, so well done!
In maths this week we have started to look at measuring using weighing scales to measure the mass of an object. We began with non standard units such as cubes and have now started to use grams and kilograms. Today we compared the mass of a shell that was 2gs to a carton of milk that had a mass of 2kg, to help feel the difference. It really helped the children to understand that a mass in kilograms ( 4kg) will be greater than the mass in grams (50g) even though the number is greater in grams.
In history this week we have started to build on our knowledge of the Great Fire of London and if you ask, all of your children should be able to tell you where it started, when it started and why it spread so quickly. The children have really enjoyed learning about it, have written some super fact files about it and drawn some very detailed pictures of the buildings that caught fire being made of wood.
Please remember to continue hearing your child to read ever night as little and often is the best way to learn. Have a super weekend. x
