Lovely Lacock
Goodness, what a week it's been!
The children have continued to work hard learning about time in maths lessons. They have been thinking about times past and to the hour as well as calculating durations.
In English, we will be writing fact files about the Great Fire of London next week, so we have spent the week thinking about the features and style of writing.
For topic lessons, we have been consolidating our learning about materials and their properties - showing what we have learnt over the topic.
On Tuesday we set off to Lacock with Meerkat and Zebra classes. Although it was a hot day, we had a wonderful time exploring the village and the abbey while trying to keep as cool as possible! The children looked at the houses and buildings around the village to help them to understand why The Great Fire of London happened. They enjoyed exploring the abbey and it's grounds - thinking about different materials that were used in different parts of the building. They were excited to see inside the abbey and learn that parts of the Harry Potter movies were filmed inside the building. Finally, as a treat for being so well behaved during the say, we spent the last part of the afternoon in the park - where a lot of fun was had by everyone!
The weather is set to get slightly cooler again next week, which will be a welcome relief, but it will still be warm, so please remember that suncream and sunhats are needed.
Next week, Year 2 children who are going to Westbury Junior School next year, will spend an afternoon over in their new classes on Tuesday. On Friday, we will be doing our colour run!
We hope you have a wonderful weekend! x
