Honeybees Friday 21st March 2025
What a wonderful week had by all in Honeybee Class!
We started our week off with the story We're Going on a Lion Hunt by David Axtell. The story was a great opportunity to focus on positional language such as over, under, around and through. In order to really learn this language we made small and large obstacles for teddies and the children to practice using their understanding of each word. In addition to this, we were all active story tellers. The children got very good at retelling the repetitive parts of the story.
In math's we have been learning the names of some 3D shapes and recapping our knowledge of 2D shapes. The children created fantastic shape artwork, made shapes using playdough and went on a shape hunt to try and find 3D shapes around the school.
In our topic sessions this week we continued to improve our listening and responding skills in music by following a beat with the use of shakers. To improve our knowledge and understanding of the world around us we focused on the difference between an animal that is wild and a pet. We also learnt lots of facts about lions, producing beautiful lion pictures, recalling and writing facts about them.
We finished our week with a trip to Fairfield Animal Centre. The children met many animals such as wallaby's, goats, sheep, pigs and donkeys and had the opportunity to pet guinea pigs and rabbits. We then spent some time in the large play area. The children had a wonderful time and were a real credit to our school community. Well done Honeybees!
Have a lovely weekend all!
