Honeybee Class Friday 21st November 2025
What a fantastic week we’ve had in Honeybee Class! Our learning has been centered around weather and the seasons, and the children have truly immersed themselves in every activity.
We began the week with a wonderful sensory story inspired by Wakey Wakey, Big Brown Bear by Tracey Corderoy. The children used all their senses to explore the different seasons the bear sleeps through. They rustled through autumn leaves, felt gentle raindrops on their faces, touched icy winter snow, and smelled the fresh, sweet scent of spring flowers. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience and began to understand how some animals hibernate in autumn and winter before waking again in spring and summer. The children showed excellent concentration—and had lots of fun along the way!
In our topic lessons, we’ve been learning all about habitats, focusing especially on the woods. The children explored different woodland animals, watched videos, and created some beautiful artwork inspired by the creatures that live there. They also practised sorting animals into two groups: those that live in the woods and those that live in the ocean—showing great thinking skills.
In maths, we introduced the part-whole model, helping the children see how a total can be split into two parts to create an addition number sentence. Their confidence grew steadily as the week went on, and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm.
We’ve also continued to develop our fine motor skills through a range of creative activities. The children crunched, scrunched, and ripped different papers and leaves to add texture to their artwork, making fantastic hedgehog pictures. They experimented with printing patterns in playdough using natural materials and carefully painted pinecones, practising precision and control with their paintbrushes.
It has certainly been a beautifully autumnal week in Honeybee Class—perfectly matching the weather outside! Well done, Honeybees—you are all superstars.
Have a lovely weekend! 🌻🐝
