We're going on a bunny hunt, going to find some chocolate eggs, We're excited!

Drawing club this week featured a blast from the past as we shared the cartoon 'Wacky Races'...the children absolutely loved it. Following on from watching the cartoon the children had to design a mascot for one of the drivers, day two saw the children designing their own vehicle they would enter into the race and on day three the challenge was to think about which baddie could be a substitute driver. Our vocabulary for the week was accelerate, braking, hazard, chuckle, demolish, overtake and transport.

The school visit to the church was a heartwarming experience, as the children performed their songs brilliantly. The children sang with enthusiasm and talent which was a joy for all to see. Mrs Hughes was very proud of the children and was delighted to tell me all about the service. Well done Kangaroos for your exemplary behaviour on our church visit.

In maths we continued to explore patterns, the children enjoyed identifying and creating their own patterns using a range of loose parts. The patterns grew in complexity as the children's understanding of pattern developed. We had patterns created in circles and on wiggly lines.

Our topic work this week was on minibeasts and learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. The children enjoyed the story, The Hungry Caterpillar and from this they could tell me about the different stages that happened as the caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. Our class butterflies did spin their cocoons this week which was very exciting. In our provision the children have enjoyed building bug houses, completing life cycle puzzles and exploring the life cycle models that we have.

Finally the children enjoyed exploring the Easter provision, we had basket weaving, egg hunts and small world stories all about Easter. The children created excellent Easter chick cards and decorated paper Easter Eggs. We listened to the story 'We're going on Bunny Hunt'  and then went on a search to find our patterned eggs and the Easter Bunny. The children loved the hunt and especially the reward of a chocolate Easter egg at the end.

I can not believe that another term has finished and we are heading into term 5 when we return. The children have worked hard this term and definitely deserve a well earned rest. I hope you all enjoy the Easter Break and have a lovely time. I look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 22nd April.

Happy Easter Everyone!
