Effort, Team work and Caring for each other

What a super week we have had in Panda Class learning to work together and thinking about how we show that we care for each other.  We are getting used to all of our new routines and are super supportive of each other not only when we are working but also when we are playing together and sharing resources.  Well done Pandas - your gem jar is filling up very quickly!

In Drawing Club this week we have been  using the book The Gruffalo to inspire our writing or 'Code' as we call it.  The children have shown what super imaginations they have  when creating a home for the mouse or designing a creatures the Gruffalo might meet next.

In maths this week we have continued to look at how we represent numbers but on a number line and how we can represent numbers on a blank number line.  We are thinking carefully about the teen numbers, ensuring we are saying them correctly and recording the stick of ten first or else we end up with a completely different number!

In Science this week Panda Class have been finding out about different habitat and how some animals have adapted to enable them to live in their environment.  We had lots of fun looking at micro habitats around school and completed our learning by thinking about a food chain. They should be able to tell you that a food chain shows who eats what and give you an example of a simple one.  For example grass is eaten by a rabbit, a rabbit is eaten by a fox so the fox is the predator as the predator eats other animals.

In PE this week we have continued to work on our fitness and team building where we have had lots of fun playing lots of games together.

In RE this seek we have continued learning about the Christian teaching of kindness. We have heard two stories, one told by the lovely Rev Rebecca in assembly about Joseph and his amazing technicoloured dream coat- which I was fortunate enough to wear- and one in our class about the Parable of the Good Samaritan.  In both stories we heard about how others treated them badly but in the latter, how an unexpecting person stopped to help.  We thought long and hard about who it is easier to be kind too and when it is more difficult.

Thank you to all of the parents who have volunteered to help on our trip to Stourhead next month.  Please can we ask for your help once again.  We are looking for parents to help walk the children to Church for our harvest service on Thursday 16th October.  If you are available we would really appreciate your help.  Please let us know via our class e-mail or at the class door.  Thank you so much for your support.

Please continue to hear your child read a little every night; over time it makes such a difference to the self esteem, confidence and ability across all of their learning.
