Discothon and art fun
We had a really fun time on Friday! The children loved showing off their best dance moves when the music came on during learning time and in the afternoon, we even had some lights and music on in the hall. Thank you for all of the donations!
We started a new topic in art this week, all about Andy Goldsworthy. We have thought about what a sculpture is and how pattern can be used to add impact and effect. We will be using natural objects from our trip to help us create our own sculptures back in school.
It was all about number bonds in maths. First, we identified the number bonds to 10 before using this knowledge to find the number bonds to 20. We used the tens frames, part- whole models and counters to help us find all of the number bonds systematically.
We were looking at the story 'Lila and the Secret of the Rain' in drawing club this week. The children describe Lila and a Kenyan village, before thinking about what animals might come out when it rains and how the village might celebrate when the rain finally comes.
In PE, we completed a carousel of activities to continue our work on fitness. The children completed running, jumping, skipping and competitive games to keep active for a longer period of time. They all did fantastically and enjoyed each station they worked on.
We had a visit from Reverend Rebecca on Thursday afternoon. She came to talk to us about kindness; what Christians believe and how Jesus' teachings tell people of this. She read the parable 'The Good Samaritan' and answered the children's questions.
Trip – Thursday 9th October
Next Thursday we have our first trip of the year, a visit to Stourhead. We are really looking forward to it. The children need to wear comfortable clothes and their school jumpers. Joggers or leggings are ideal. Comfortable shoes, trainers or wellies are a must as there is a lot of walking. A small backpack will be needed for the children to carry their lunch (a packed lunch and bottle of water will be provided for all children).
