This week our theme has been our body and keeping healthy. We have enjoyed singing songs such as head, shoulders, knees and toes and naming different body parts and a skeleton song called ‘Dem bones’. This led into us making skeleton pictures using cotton buds and black paper. We also enjoyed listening to the story ‘Funny bones’ and talking to our partners about what we would do if we were skeletons! Lots of children enjoyed drawing around their bodies on the floor with chalk or on large sheets of paper and naming / labelling the different body parts. We thought about and talked as a class about what we need to do to be healthy and to live a healthy lifestyle. There were lots of great ideas!

This week for squiggle whilst you wiggle we practised ‘the hump’ which will help when forming letters such as m, n, h, and r. We did this to the song ‘m bop’ by Hanson which was so much fun! In maths our focus has been comparing size and mass of different objects around the classroom. We chose objects and placed them into a big hoop or a small hoop depending on their size. This led us in to comparing the weight of different objects and discussing which one is lighter / heavier. We read the story ‘Dear Zoo’ in one of our maths lessons and tried to guess what animal might be in each box, depending on its size. We then looked at a mystery box and predicted what might be inside before thinking about what else we could fit into it.

We ended the week with our Discoathon! It was amazing! Lots of random dancing throughout the day when the music was played and we even went into the hall with Koala class and Kangaroo class to have disco.

A great week in Wallaby class! Well done everyone 😊
