Colour run and fun!

What a warm but fun end of the week! The children really enjoyed their colour run on the trim trail, dressed in their bright colours and challenging themselves to run as many laps as they could.

The Year 2 children had a lovely time at the Junior school on Tuesday afternoon, visiting their new teachers and spending time in their new classes. They were excited o tell us all about it when they arrived back!

In English, we created a fact file all about the Great Fire of London.  The children wrote about the causes of the fire, the things done to try to stop it and the damage it caused.  It has been wonderful to read their illustrated fact files.  They concentrated on fact-based sentences with a focus on capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Maths was all about measurement this week, focusing on mass and using non-standard unit of measure (cubes) and standard units of measure (g and kg) to weigh and measure the mass of different objects. The children enjoyed exploring different scales and using their knowledge to read the measurements.

In history we have taken on the role of historians.  We know about the Great Fire of London from our English work but we are now finding out how we know what happened and what we can use (sources – not to be confused with sauces, but it was good to check new vocabulary ) to help us find out more.  We explored how the fire started and explained why and how the fire spread so quickly.

As the weather forecast next week is for more sunshine, please remember to send a sunhat in with your child each day.  There is no need to send in water bottles, the children can access water in class throughout the day and are encouraged to do so.
