Art and World Book Day!
What a lovely week for Leopard Class!
World Book Day was a huge success on Thursday, the children looked fantastic in their outfits. We spoke about the words they came dressed up as and we managed to take some great pictures of them all :)
Maths this week has been about multiplying and dividing by 5 and 10. We have practised counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and it would be great to hear of this being continued at home.
In English, we have continued our work on 'The Secret Sky Garden'. The children used their knowledge of using adjectives and similes to describe to write an alternative ending to the story. The children designed their own sky garden and wrote how Funni added them to make the garden more colourful and interesting.
In Art, we have learnt how Georgia O’Keefe focused on the detail in her floral paintings, zooming in on particular parts rather than always painting the whole flower. This week we used view finders to help us zoom in and just sketch just part of the flower. We also practiced creating different marks with different size paint brushes and next week we will paint our sketches, using our findings of brush stokes and brush sizes to show the detail.
In PE, we have been outside consolidating our ball skills and becoming attackers and defenders to make up small games. Inside, the children have been applying their gymnastic skills to jump in different ways.
Thank you to those who have signed up for parents evening on the 18th and 19th March. Please sign up if you haven't already.
We are looking for helpers to walk to the church on Tuesday 1st April. Please email (class4@westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk) or speak to me to let me know if you can help!
