Antarctica poetry

What a cold week! Even though it was a chilly one, it fit in perfectly with our English lessons. We wrote list poems all about Antarctica. The children watched videos to think about what they could see and hear, before they explored ice to see what it could feel like. As a class, we made a word bank for how we could describe Antarctica and looked at the features, before we had a go at writing our list poems. On Friday, we shared our poems, and some were even brave enough to read them aloud to the class!!

Our music lesson was all about making the instruments which they designed last week. The children used recyclable materials, including boxes, cardboard tubes and bottles to make their own instruments.

In science, we have continued our topic of 'How do animals survive?' by looking at eating healthy and doing exercise to stay strong. The children ended the week by showing off everything they know by answering our topic question. Well done Leopard Class.
Next week, we’ll be starting a new Geography topic all about the weather. We’ll be looking at different types of weather, how it changes, and how it links to the polar regions and climates around the world. A knowledge organiser will be coming home with all the key information to help you chat about the topic together.

In maths, we have been using our place value knowledge to order and compare numbers to 100. The children used 'greater than', 'less than' and 'equal to' to describe the numbers. As you can see, their independent learning has been fantastic.

Thank you for supporting your child with their reading. Books are changed every Friday so please ensure book folders are in school so that your child can receive their new book.

It is definitely coat weather now so please ensure your child had a coat in school every day as we do go out for all playtimes and PE.  Also, if your child brings in a hat and gloves, please ensure that they are labelled.
