A busy week of making

The theme of this week has continued to be The Great Fire of London. After the shame of our trip being cancelled on Wednesday, we explored different aspects of it by making houses from the pictures we found, making things that Fire Cat Bob would have taken on the trip and writing down some information about what being in London at that time would have been like.  In English, we are exploring the facts and the impact the fire had on the people of London.  The children the labelled the features of a chronological fact file and then we hot-seated each other as we pretended to be people living in London during that time, such as Samuel Pepys and King Charles II.

In Maths, we learnt about minutes in an hour and hours in a day.  Also, we revised times on a clock and even had a go at drawing them. As said previously, time can be a tricky concept for children to learn so please continue supporting this skill at home by asking and telling your child the time and referring to how long things may take to further develop this skill.

PE was all about pirate dancing this week. The children learned a routine and performed it in two halves. They also practised aiming, bouncing and passing in our outdoor PE lesson.

A couple of reminders… Please ensure that your child has a sunhat in school every day and their reading book.
